	It is important to note that copyright laws do apply. It is legal for an individual to make or have made a single copy for his or her own use, provided the originals are owned by the individual. It is not legal to make multiple copies. DLF Music Transfer will not make a copy of music/audio with the intent of the customer making multiple copies. DLF Music Transfer assumes that the customer has gained a legal copy of any materials sent to DLF Music Transfer. DLF Music Transfer transfers vinyl, tapes and other recordings for your own personal use only. Unless you own a commercial copyright, commercial use is illegal!!!!! 	There are three possibilities: DLF Shipping Packet Professional Packing Package the vinyl Yourself DLF Shipping Packet For a small charge, we will ship you a box which contains everything you need to safely ship your vinyl to DLF Music Transfer. Our wooden sandwiching boards will protect your vinyl against breaking or warping during shipment. All you do is wrap the vinyl as instructed, seal the self sealing box and have the box available for USPS. Professional Packing You can take your vinyl to a local professional shipping store in your area. They will supply all the needed materials and ship your vinyl at an affordable price. Here is a list of larger shipping companies which are found nationally: UPS Store, Sunshine Pack & Ship, Parcel Plus, Pak mail Centers of America, Pack and Mail Plus and Post Net.

Packing My Vinyls	Pack the vinyls Yourself Materials Needed Box 16x16x4 Filler material – old newspapers, bubble wrap etc. Packing tape at least two inches wide Two to four larger rubber bands or six ft. of string What do you do? Secure your vinyl together – string or rubber bands Place at least one inch filler on the bottom of the box Put your vinyl, check or PayPal form and COMPLETED order form in the box Add enough filler to have one inch on each side and enough on top so the middle of the box is firm when closed Seal the box and ship to DLF Music Transfer WARNING!!!!!! If the weather is warmer it is recommended that a heavy piece of cardboard (13x13) or the like is placed on the outside of your vinyl to squeeze them firmly together to prevent warping of the vinyl. If you are looking for the least expensive way for an individual to ship vinyl and audio materials I have found the Post Office’s media mail to be most economical. The Post office sets the rate only by weight distance doesn’t matter. For a set of ten vinyl the shipping would be approximately four to five dollars. This method requires you go to your local post office in person to have your package weighed and postage applied. If you are looking for a carrier to pick up your package we suggest UPS Ground. All you need to do is call UPS at 1-800-pick-ups(742-5877) to schedule a pick up. The rate for this depends on where you are; however, the rate will likely be in the ten to thirteen dollar range.

What is Sound Cleaning?	What is Sound Cleaning?
	Sound Cleaning is the process we use to remove much of the annoying noise produced during the playing of a vinyl. There are four groups these sounds can be grouped into hiss, crackle, noise and click. After your music is recorded a complex computer program analyzes the wave form for each of these sound types. If any of these is detected the optimal amount of cleaning is selected for your music. Which vinyl and tapes are helped by sound cleaning? Sadly, most every vinyl or tape has some of these annoying noises. Only if you have taken amazingly great care of your recordings and you like the vinyl sound, would you likely want to skip the sound cleaning.

The Process	How does it go from a vinyl to a CD?
	Simple Answer - First your vinyl is cleaned on a modern automatic vinyl cleaner. Next your vinyl is played on an “old fashion” turntable which is hooked up to a stereo amplifier. As the vinyl plays the sound from this amplifier is fed into a computer sound card. This sound card changes the analog sound from the amplifier into a digital recording which is stored on the computer. This digital recording is then reviewed by a special program that looks for unwanted sounds to be removed. Next artist, album title and song names are added to the digital recording on the computer. Finally a CD is “burned” with all this information stored on the CD and, if you wish, a jewel case with this information and a computer scanned copy of the album art is printed.
	Longer Answer - First both sides of your vinyl are cleaned on a professional vinyl cleaner using professional vinyl cleaning fluid. The cleaning process begins with cleaning fluid gently scrubbed into the grooves of the vinyl by special short and soft bristled brush. The cleaning concludes with the alcohol free and biodegradable cleaning fluid being vacuumed off the vinyl. Next your vinyl is played on a new “modern” turntable with a new cartridge and stylus. The turntable is hooked up to a new modern amplifier which is used to pump the volume up to roughly the correct level. The output from the amplifier is fed through a stereo sound mixer which is used to fine tune the final recording volume. The output from the mixer is fed into the computer via a special 24-bit, 108 dB SNR (sound to noise ratio) sound card. This sound card transforms the analog sound wave which is used by “old fashioned” stereos into a digital form of the music. This version of the recording is stored on the computer’s hard drive. This uncleaned digital recording is analyzed by a professional sound program for four types of unwanted sound types, hiss, clicks, noise and crackle. Once analyzed the correct amount of filtering for each type of correction is set and applied by the sound program. Next artist, album title and song names are added to the digital recording on the computer. Finally a CD is “burned” with all this information stored on the CD and, if you wish, a jewel case with this information and a computer scanned copy of the album art is printed.
